Good morning!

It’s Sunday. We’ve taken the bus over the Seine and wound our way past the Hôtel de Ville, across Rue de Rivoli, around the Square du Temple and Place de la République, briefly along the Canal Saint Martin, and snaked our way northeast until we could see trees. We pushed the button, waited for the bus to stop, and descended at the gates of the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, one of the largest green spaces in Paris.

It’s a perfect example of what can happen when humans commit to turn a bleak place (once a quarry and repository for trash and sewage) into a beautiful one. Now it’s a welcome refuge for humans and birds alike.

So let’s stand by the water’s edge, take it all in, and see what the birds have to say.

“may my heart always be open to little birds who are the secrets of living”

e. e. cummings

Onwards,

Clara
