September 21, 2025

Good morning!

It’s time for our first Sunday outing in Japan. But it’s also September 21st, which, as any longtime Respiter will know, is a national holiday in Respitopia.

What to do?

How about a bit of both?

We begin not too far from the Bashō shrine, at the Kiyosumi Garden—a traditional Japanese stroll garden created in the 1870s. The garden is dominated by a central pond that’s home to an astonishing number of very contented turtles.

I suspect they were all waiting for me to introduce our other video—and that they’re gathered in their secret watery clubhouse at this very moment to bounce their heads to the music, as we do the same. Without further ado, enjoy our September 21st celebration.

“To brisk notes in cadence beating
Glance their many-twinkling feet.”

Onwards,
