Good morning!

It’s Sunday, and we’ve gotten up extra early to take a walk before breakfast. I wanted to show you one of my favorite fountains. It depicts a riotous group of fish, turtles, and sea horses engaged in an epic water fight. By the looks of things, the turtles have the advantage.

Meanwhile, four scantily clad figures representing Europe, Asia, Africa, and America perch on a pedestal in the center holding a large metal orb over their heads, as one does.

The fountain stands between the Luxembourg Garden and the Paris Observatory along what’s called the Paris Meridian, a historic longitudinal line allegedly used to calculate the size of the Earth and define the meter, but don’t ask me how, because I have no idea whatsoever.

I just like coming here to watch the fun. Shall we?

“That which the fountain sends forth returns again to the fountain.”

—Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Onwards,

Clara
