Good morning!

It’s Sunday. Lace up your shoes, we’re headed outside for an adventure. Those of you who are new to the Respite, we do this every Sunday. Welcome!

Today I’m leading you to the edge of the woods, where I’ll have you close your eyes before I lead you through a secret doorway of fir trees. When you open your eyes again, you’ll have no idea where you are. Which is how all secret doorways should work, right?

We’ll meander back and forth, deeper into the woods. Just when you start to wonder if I have any idea where I’m going, you’ll see a sparkle and hear the sound of the bay. We’re not lost at all!

Over the waves, we’ll hear something else, too. Walking closer, we’ll reach this spot.

We’re looking out over an area that was completely clobbered during the big January storm that brought Ducky into our lives. It got flooded with saltwater and heaped with stones and seaweed and driftwood, with buoys and bits of rope and all sorts of flotsam. I honestly didn’t think anything would grow here again.

I’m happy to say that I was wrong.

“That which does not destroy, strengthens.”

Friedrich Nietzsche

Onwards,

Clara
