Good morning! It’s Saturday. There’s something about this time of year that has me craving biscuits even more than usual, which is already on the extreme side of “often.” Is it a longing for home and comforting smells? The need for butter and crunch and reassuring rituals to carry me through the last of the beige days before the buds open? I don’t know. But when I look at the menu archives here at
I thought it was just me! Now that I know it's a universal phenomenon, I will no longer question the craving and just loll about in buttered biscuit bliss.
And I should probably try one of each fruit jewel atop these buttery clouds......sigh.
The quote is lovely and a nice reminder of the joy of helping others and the biscuits…. Not only could I smell them but I could taste and feel the texture, both outside and in!
These biscuits look as good as the ones you shared last year! Bet they're just as tasty too! Can I have 2; one with cherry and the other topped with a little apricot jam? But I can butter them first, right? Thanks, Clara!
Yum! Apricot please. I totally get this. Two days ago my husband, who is not much of a breakfast eater, woke up with blueberry pancakes on his mind. Same principle - that has become our go-to comfort. The quote is so "on-time" for me also. I am surrounded by cousins where I live who do volunteering on a regular basis. We are on the go too much to make a regular commitment, but since I weave, I do my "volunteering" by weaving comfort shawls and giving them away to people who need them. I am guided on my weaving journeys by my Maine Wabanaki prayer basket (permission to use given by the basket maker herself) which helps me see my purpose. (Sorry - it's a long way from biscuits, but hit home to me with the quote).
These biscuits became a favorite from the first time you shared the recipe, back in 2020, back at the beginning of Covid. Every time I make them I think of you and the gift of a tried and true recipe. We have them often with homemade soup. True comfort. Thank you!
You and I must be on the same wavelength, Clara. Last night I opened the fridge looking for just a little something. All that appealed was the couple of spoonfuls of Bon Maman cherry preserves left in the jar. But I didn't have any bread or BISCUITS to put them on, so I just picked out the cherries with a spoon and ate them standing there in the kitchen. What a treat, but gee I would've loved the butter and crunch to go with it. And a cup of Irish breakfast tea.

Orange marmalade, please. Shall I bring over my jar?
ONE WITH CHERRY AND THEN ONE WITH APRICOT. THANKS SO MUCH!
These biscuits look incredible! I don't really have a worthy biscuit recipe. PLEASE share your yours again, if you can 🙏🏻

Did someone say "shared the recipe?" Could you do that again, please? They look SO good!
Cherry, please - and thank you! Perfect quote to go with them, too.
Although I rarely eat apricots, I think apricots jam is quite tasty.
Butter on warm biscuits....heavenly. Thanks Clara, for getting up early to have them ready for us this morning.

Cherry please as I don’t have it often. I am with you on craving biscuits and I think I will make some! Love the quote!
