Good morning!
It’s Saturday. There’s something about this time of year that has me craving biscuits even more than usual, which is already on the extreme side of “often.”
Is it a longing for home and comforting smells? The need for butter and crunch and reassuring rituals to carry me through the last of the beige days before the buds open? I don’t know. But when I look at the menu archives here at Chez Respite, the third week of March is always when the biscuits appear.
And so it is, like clockwork, that I present you with a tray of sustenance, a buttery hug, a reassurance that you aren’t alone, that we’re all in this restaurant together. Bon appétit.

Would you like cherry or apricot jam with yours?

I thought it was just me! Now that I know it's a universal phenomenon, I will no longer question the craving and just loll about in buttered biscuit bliss.
And I should probably try one of each fruit jewel atop these buttery clouds......sigh.
Orange marmalade, please. Shall I bring over my jar?
