LOL, I have enough issues with the squirrels; I hope my bird feeders don't attract skunks.

This is one beautiful skunk❣️We used to see (or “notice”) a skunk occasionally, but none so exotic-looking! I’ve actually missed the FRAGRANCE in recent years, it’s been so long since there has been even ONE nearby. ☹️ Even in Montana!😢

Beautiful quote; thank you! Captivating; I've been thinking about it all day.

It reminds me of a line from the poet Seamus Heaney (which I also think about a lot). It's from his poem "The Gravel Walks" and is inscribed on his gravestone --

"Walk on air against your better judgement"

Thank you for the link to that story. I love that he said, "I like the in-betweenness of up and down, of being on the earth and of the heavens."

Well I might be hesitant about “vital breezes” with a skunk in the neighborhood.

Clara - You have "schooled" me today. Thank you - I will definitely be more tolerant of the squirrels and the grackles. As my husband says: "The squirrels have to eat too". I also bought bird seed today. I love the quote. It fits exactly with the book Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer that we just finished reading this week.

Lost my note. Distracted by having to sign in every day, I guess. I give up!😭

This confused me at the beginning, too (if it's the same situation?)

I had started to follow a few newsletters unpaid and then added a couple paid, but I was having to do "forgot password" every time -- until I realized that the web portal only needs one user email and one password to give access to all your subscriptions.

Perhaps related -- I just received an updated credit card and had to update that info across my paid subscriptions. I ended up going to each one and typing in the info, but it occurred to me that maybe Substack again just needs one credit card for all subscriptions and updating one would update all? I didn't take that chance, though.

I've found that Substack's documention (like so much else online today) is painfully less than clear, especially as it seems they are aiming to assist authors before readers -- there would obviously have to be two sets of Help notes, given the two different roles. It's not easy being a reader!

Good luck!

Oh Daniel! Bless you and thank you so much - espec for caring. I’m still mystified since I only “DO” Clara, but I appreciate knowing that the prob is more in the technology than in my brain!👍

You're welcome, Alicia!

I should clarify that my descriptions above are of my activity on the web in Safari. I log out of Substack each evening in prep for shutting down my computer -- and then log in every morning after I start up.

I do have the Substack app on my phone. Once installed I've not had to login again even though I sometimes have to delete the app and install it again from the App Store. Somehow, even on a reinstall, the phone has retained my password and logs me in without a problem.

All to say -- I find the phone app mostly smooth but occasionally it acts up. I found myself deleting and reinstalling it twice in the past few days for getting stuck while playing videos. I don't even try to find help documentation for the phone app -- there are only so many hours in the day!

I'm happy to continue to try to help, though I have no real expertise in this. Maybe Clara can connect us offline? I think she has my email address and can share?

Daniel, thank you so much for your time and help! [Looks like I will HAVE to “restack” Substack! 😣]

That's so bizarre - so you're not signing out, you're just being forced to sign in again every day? I'm wondering if you have subscriptions to different Substack newsletters under a different email address? I have other readers who discovered that they installed the Substack app and registered to use it under a different email address than the one they'd used to the Respite, so every time they open the app, it doesn't recognize them under that email address. I'm just throwing ideas out here, because this shouldn't happen. I haven't logged into my Substack account in months, my browser just stays logged in. Maybe it's an overzealous browser that doesn't allow the cookie for being logged in?

I’m checking back in to mention that I have tried at some point (quite awhile ago!) to block all the cookies, but that didn’t turn out too well.😊

So I gave up THAT great idea! I have now formally rejoined the Substack community, and am recognized there, altho I have a feeling that the Substack app will be reminding me forever to update my phonetoy.😣

Thank you, Clara❣️

Hi, Clara!

Thanks for listening ❣️

This has been since I deleted the Substack app. (I was trying to make more room in my [obsolete] phonetoy! But it also happened occasionally BEFORE, that I had to sign in even when I HAD the Substack app.)🤷🏻‍♀️

Love it. I feed a large assortment of birds, squirrels and bunny rabbits, but no skunks. Thankfully, as my silly dog would try to chase it. We all know how that would end.
