Good morning! It’s Wednesday. Every so often I’ll be walking through the woods and come across something that is very clearly a trail—and a trail that I didn’t make.
The Earth is, indeed, what we all have in common. Let’s do everything in our collective power to preserve it so that travelers of any species can navigate it in peace. 🙏🏻
And if it ever snows it's fun to follow the (some temporary) critter paths. We used to have a porky living in a huge dead old sugar maple nearby. In winter I loved to follow his little trail through the snow to a stand of hemlock for his breakfast and back to his tree to perch high up in the sun. He always followed the exact same path until branching out at the hemlocks.
To those who read about my Sophie dog's misery, I am thrilled to let you know that she recovered! She still has cancer, but in those days it was not the cancer making her look so near death, but the chemo! Having stopped it, she is nearly all back to her puppyish self (even at 11-1/2 years). Thank you all for your thoughts and support. ❤️
That warms my heart! So amazing to share the quiet parts of the world with other species.
Fun to see new things on old paths !
So lucky to have this piece of land to rediscover constantly!
I believe such pathway is called a trace
That’s a beautiful word for it.
You should set up a trail cam to see who is passing through. 😉
Plenty of snowy footprints here!

I'm so glad to hear that she's more comfortable again. Thank you for the update, Ginny!
Onward indeed!
It’s a great day that starts off with a Wendell Berry quote & a wonderful food-for-thought & imaginative DR post.
Thank you, Clara. 🧡
