Good morning!

It’s Sunday. The plan was to walk to the top of the Hill That Requires a Commitment and see if we could glimpse the water through the trees. But when we got to the top of the hill, we saw human footprints in the snow. Curiosity (and commitment) got the best of us, and we decided to see where they went.

The footprints led us down, down, down to the bottom of the hill. Where the road splits and we usually go to the left, the footprints continued off to the right. So we continued to the right. And when the footprints left the road and went into the woods, so did we.

Our invisible guide led us through parts of the woods I’ve never explored before, until he or she reached a trail we did know. From there, we followed a busy path of animal footprints along the shoreline to this spot.

It’s a long walk back up the hill for home, but we won’t think about that yet. Let’s simply stand for a minute, catch our breath, and be grateful we’re here.

“The journey is its own reward.”

Onwards,

Clara
