I will have to look for birch catkins to rescue, although don't have birches right around my house, more likely to see cottonwood catkins than birch. Thank you Clara.😌💖

I have never seen a catkin before! Randomly my first thought was how I’d create them in bobbin lace. I went to a bobbin lace conference a few weeks ago and learned how to make Bedfordshire lace. One of the techniques was how to make leaves which are also called tallies or petals depending on who you ask. I’m guessing I could use that same technique to create catkins.

Lovely quote! I will look for the catkins here though I've never seen any. Perhaps we have a different species of birch...

I’m new to birch trees. What does moving the catkins to a more hospitable spot do? Will a new birch tree grow from the catkins?

Yup! Catkins are how birch trees spread their seeds. I'd hate to see a sweet little seedling try to grow in the middle of the road, only to be crushed by a car.

Thank you! I’ll start relocating downed catkins too ;-)
