The sound of crickets (and cicadas) carries me back to some of my favorite times and places, but I'm honing in on 'Retrospects' in Emily Dickinson's poem. Today is 'Michaelmas;' last night, I read about 'Michaelmas daisies' in a P. D. James mystery. What a surprise to find out that Michaelmas daisies are what the British call 'asters!' I found the following unattributed passage from a poem: 'The Michaelmas daisies, among dead weeds, Bloom for St. Michael's valorous deeds . . . '
Wishing you all a day full of beauty and joyful color tucked into unexpected places : -)
Not sure; I don't know 'cricket' as well as 'cicada' , making predictions or clamoring for monsoon rains here in So AZ, but I do hear something that might be "Welcome", "Please, watch where you step, I don't really want to hop if I don't have to" and "Did you bring any leaves or plants, for that matter, from your garden to nibble on?" Not sure though; kind of hard to make out when they're all talking at the same time ...
I could listen to the bell buoy all day❣️Is the bay pretty choppy today?? Love the crickets too. (In my yard there are frogs, altho this time of year, just one 🤷🏻♀️) I’ll bet the crickets are rejoicing in the new Season and encouraging us to rejoice as well!
What a fabulous combo! Gorgeous trees, the sound of crickets and Emily Dickenson!! My father-in-law was alive he for some reason just hated crickets it used to make my husband and I laugh so hard at how flustered he would get over them. Now anytime I hear them I can't help but giggle and think of him.
Don't know if any of you have heard this - someone took the cricket sounds and slowed them way down, and the result is beautiful. Here's the youtube link if you want to hear what the crickets are saying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OP6JGlv32nw
Oh how I loved this! I was completely transported! The quote/poem was so lovely too! I wish that I could hug you!

Wow!
WHOA...
Oh wow that was so beautiful!!
I think they are wishing my hubby a happy 50th birthday today! But I'm a little selfish like that, he is so very dear to me. :)
They are definitely wishing him a happy birthday! As am I!
I learned to speak cricket during the 6-months that crickets were using the area under my fridge as an AirBnB. But it was a different dialect.
I've heard that they have different dialects. Oh well.
I especially love the greetings and salutations of the buoy. 💕
Hey! You over there! Where did Summer go???
They're saying slow down, enjoy this moment.
How wonderfully relaxing! I need to save this one somehow so I can play it again when I need a moment of calm.
The game is afoot!
Whatever it is, they are excited and want us to listen and learn !
"summer's lease is all too short"
