Good morning! It’s Friday. First it was the human visitors. Then went the migratory birds and butterflies. Now, it’s the garden’s turn to pack up and head out—not home, since that’s where they’ve been all summer, but to a new home, wherever that might be. It’s all up to the wind.
I remember the first time I saw a thistle. I was scurrying up the side of a hill on my Tata’s property in the mountains when I came across it. It was so totally out of place and looked so alien to me. I immediately sought out my Tata to show him the strange plant and he happily told me about thistles and how they spread. I was probably around 6-7. I haven’t thought about that memory in quite a long time and seeing today’s post really made me smile. I also totally agree with the quote today!
Wow! This is so cool looking- is it soft? I have no thistle near me and had NO idea it does this at the end of its season. I love this picture Clara- thanks!

I love that this post brought back such a vivid and sweet memory!
Beautiful picture of a beautiful plant!
And, in the end, it can also be easier…
Wow all your friends ann,Stanley, great comments, and as always you give wise advice thru nature
The ending is just another name for the beginning.
Thistle amazes me - so prickly yet so soft.
I only knew about milkweed ! Great illustration. Holding on to things sometimes holds us back ! Thank you

It's not as soft as milkweed but it's not like a needle either. Somewhere in the middle?
Thanks!
