Birdsong is more welcome now than ever!

Cedar Waxwings come here to party regularly; I have lots of (frozen) berries on my ornamental fruit trees and mountain ash -- so their party chatter is a fixture outside my home these days!

Oh WOW, that's special! We don't get those.

(Or maybe we do and I just haven't seen them. Now I can look!)

I live in rural central Alberta; our winter-time birds are chickadees, blue jays, nuthatches and sparrows. The Waxwings come in late winter and swing back around in the fall. Our robins won't be here for a while yet (we still have lots of snow, though it's warming up). And in summer we get finches (don't know what kind) and swallows. And magpies and crows, and prairie gulls that follow the farmers who are harrowing and planting their fields! I'd love to see a cardinal in real life, but they don't come this far north, and generally not farther west than Manitoba.

Ah, glorious! The first sign of spring! The treetops are warm enough for the wee birdies.

Ahhh that was gorgeous!!

You have the most beautiful windows and woodwork. On the topic of birds (of which I know very little) there is a fabulous app from Cornell Lab called Merlin. It has the capacity to record the bird’s song on your phone and then identify it. It’s my new favorite thing!

Spring is in the air. A wonderful way to jump start the day. Thanks to you and Rachel Carson

We lack dramatic demarcation between the seasons in southern CA, so i look for smaller signs. Like the cottonwood that's in bloom sending little fluff right into my sinuses so that I'm sneezing all day and waking up hacking up a lung.

We have pine trees behind our house and pollen is everywhere!! Thanks to the rain it cleaned up some of it but we end up with pollen coated cars & outdoor furniture.

Near Chicago and saw robins in the yard this morning. Supposed to be 70 here today. Just a taste of spring tho, forecast is snow next week.

Oh wow that is so pretty! We aren’t quite there yet but I can’t wait! The pond adjacent to my yard is reappearing, we got enough rain overnight that I can see some of the water starting to peek out again. But it’s false spring, we are getting more snow next week.

I felt the tension slide right out of my body, thank you for the comforting sounds of birdsong.

I noticed similar lovely sounds when I went out early-ish Friday. There's a song - When Fall Comes to New England - perhaps it should have a sister song to paint vocal images (& sounds) about spring. Cheryl Wheeler you listening? Or should we just record the birds.
