Good morning!

It’s Sunday. And we may be in the desert, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find water. In fact, we’ve found some extra special water at the Mission Garden, a four-acre living agricultural museum at the base of Sentinel Peak—an area many consider the birthplace of the city.

Our water is flowing through a replica of the acequias and other canals that used to carry water from the nearby Santa Cruz River to the fields of prehistoric Indians, Hohokam, Akimiel O’Odham, Spanish, Mexican, and early Anglo farmers.

Look closely and you may even see some endangered Gila topminnow swimming about. This is their refuge. And for the next one minute and forty-six seconds, it’s our refuge too.

“Each one of us can be an oasis of peace.”

—Desmond Tutu

But a little water certainly helps.

Onwards we go,
