Good morning! It’s Friday. And unlike yesterday’s mystery flowers, which Bear insists he didn’t plant, I know exactly where these hellebores—or “lenten roses”—came from and how they ended up where they did.
I am so happy for you! My Lenten rose even blooms thru the snow, if we have any, and is a joy to me all year round. It is evergreen! And a few years ago I discovered very large snails with beautiful striped shells living in the foliage! Who knew we had snails in northwestern Washington?! (Snails I admire; slugs, not so much😊)
Love the idea that we can have more than one "home". Home truly is something we carry with us. Just as Odin said in Thor: Ragnarok: "Asgard is not a place, it's a people".
Hooray for Aunt Judy! I am holding out for a hunk of red violets from my Aunt Marcia's front yard. They came from my grandmother's yard many years ago. She got them from her mother's yard.
I only brought a few plants from my old house, and the first in the ground at the new house were hellebores. I apologized as I lowered them into the red clay soil but they have thrived here and are blooming now, peeking out from under a weeping Japanese maple.
That's wonderful! You rule, Aunt Judy!
Never heard of lenten roses will have to research, beautiful coming up
So cool. Aunt Judy has the touch!
Inspiring quote. Thank you, Clara.
How wonderful!
Your Aunt is a gem. What a loving gesture. Now you have a part of her with you always.

Oh they are such special plants, indeed. What a dear gift from your aunt, and a reminder of her love for you.
Great story.

Where are you? I read red clay soil and think Georgia.
The eastern panhandle of West Virginia - not too far from Harper’s Ferry. Lots of red clay here!
Yes let's talk about roots! See you then.
How kind- Aunt Judy is the best😊
She IS
Ah, hellebores—one of my favorite flowers! Looks like Aunt Judy has the magic touch.
