We are only supposed to get to 79 degrees today in Seattle—perfect for the solstice—but I am sending cooling vibes to those who are sweltering in much hotter temperatures.
I am concerned about this heat wave affecting your part of the country - do you have air conditioning? I know everyone in the cooler parts of the US doesn't necessarily have AC. In Texas, it’s the only we can survive the summers, although I grew up mostly without it. We had a swamp cooler and an attic fan and that was fine, but it wasn’t as hot or humid back then in the 1960s -70s. Just over 2 weeks ago, we had a terrifying storm here in Dallas that affected our part of east Dallas, trees and power lines down everywhere including traffic signals and 5 days without electricity. Luckily, the temps had not quite reached the 90s yet. Our battery powered fans saved us, especially at night. So good luck with the heat wave, I’m thinking about down here in Dallas.

A fine decision. While my sister is trying to keep cool in the wretched heat in Boston, I'm lucky to be in one of the few cool spots in the country. We are now down to counting days until she moves here so I hope the cool weather holds!

We have been ending ours this way - sitting by the ocean and watching the waves. Plus, we have been having sweet ocean breezes. I only wish everyone could experience it.
