Good morning! It’s Sunday, and I’ve brought you down to our favorite spot that I hereby designate our Thinking Rock. We’ve often stood here, you and I. And it was from here that my beloved and I hatched our dream of moving to Maine. We called it Operation Freedom.
Once again, Clara, thank you so much for a calming and grounding video of water. I’m not sure what I enjoy more - the sound of lapping water or the buoy.
Thank you, Clara. Your photo this morning reminded me of one of my Gramps and me , probably aged 4, standing on a similar rock in front of their home in Maine. I am holding an old fashioned foghorn and trying like crazy to get a sound out of it! So today’s post was helpful in several ways. 🙏
This is such a wonderful view!! I’ve been lucky in that we’ve spent the last week in Maui and fly home today. I’m not ready to leave the turquoise waters!! We snorkeled with turtles, watched dolphins jumping in the ocean and visited the new location of our absolute favorite burgers. The Cool Car Cafe burned in the Lahaina fire when we were here last time. They’ve opened a smaller express location near our hotel and a new restaurant over in Kihei. We visited both multiple times and they still make the best burgers! I wasn’t sure how I would feel returning here after being here during the fires but I’m glad we came. We met some of the most amazing folks at our hotel and their stories of hope and resilience were awe-inspiring. One young man named Bryson told us how he rescued 13 people going back and forth on his ebike multiple times. He said his brother kept telling him to stop but he couldn’t live with himself if he didn’t try and help. Looking back now he can see how dangerous it was but he’s glad he did it anyway. Bryson is only 20 years old! He also talked about his community and friends that were impacted. It was so moving and one of my favorite parts of the trip. There is nothing better to me than having a meaningful conversation with another person.
If anyone could use some additional soothing today, here is a youtube video from a brand new channel(just started in May of this year). I think they are onto something good.
Maine has always been a dream of ours. How do you feel about the damp? I suppose if I had my own house I could dehumidify but having vacationed in Acadia for several years, I can't get the damp out of my head! It's my only worry.
We take all weather as it comes, only choice. Dehumidifier in basement but we live right on the ocean so… The best days are made better by the worst days, don’t know what else to say. It was a leap from Los Angeles but happy with the leap!
Please sit on the rock for me. I have very little water pressure due to a city wide issue. Can you also make birthday cake for my friend? It was to be a surprise when our Knitting Club de meets this afternoon.
Oh but that bell! What'll we do when that bell is gone?😰

The sound of the water, on such a hot and humid day here, soothed my soul. Thanks!

Ahhhh… the moving conundrum. So glad we moved here (Clara’s ‘hood)… nine years, year round and best decision ever!

Such a beautiful, peaceful spot - thank you for sharing as I very much needed it today.
Thank you Clara, very soothing. 💖😌
I’ve been craving this solitude. Thank you. If only I had it in real life. Oh well, a girl (read old lady) can dream.
I love these videos. Such a gentle and affirming respite. Thank you. Time to gently ponder.

Done!
You are the best!
It’s been a tough two days as we lost our beloved dog on Thursday, so this is a blessing. 🙏🏻
I’m so sorry. Sending you so much love and gentle hugs.
Jennifer. I am so sorry. A heartbreaking time for you - may the wonderful memories help you deal with the grief.
Oh Jennifer, I am so, so sorry. May you find a soft quiet space to move through this sacred time. ❤️
I love Emerson and you for bringing your beautiful home to us!
Thank you
It gives a feeling of calm and coolness.
Very hot in the UK
Very hot and humid here near Buffalo, ny too. We need more coolness.
A Thinking Rock is a wonderful place to have. Such a beautiful view and the comforting sound of water. Clarity comes when we let it flow into us.
Pemaquid is that for me. I cherish the time I have there, and I hold the peace in my soul all year.
