Good morning! It’s Saturday, and we have a visitor. I found him sleeping off the effects of an all-nighter by the front porch light. He is a blinded sphinx moth, but his birth certificate says “Paonias excaecatus.” Imagine being so lucky as to have more than half of your name composed of vowels?
Early one morning last week I found three of these lovelies on the floor of the post office. Light on overnight in there and they flew in the partially open door, were trapped. I carefully lifted them singly and released them outside felt a good way to start the day! Now I know their lovely name…
Are you sure about the safety of wool?
Very sweet.
That's such a beautiful moth!
He does look like he was up all night.💖😌 Someone needs some zzzzz now.
Ok. I had to memorize its face , moths are not allowed in my house!
The camouflage is spectacular.
Your visitor is truly amazing to have picked such a safe and warm spot to sleep off the effects of a whirlpool night . Very beautiful!
I can see the beauty!
What a lovely visitor. And it’s so kind of you to provide him a safe place to rest.
Very handsome!
All-nighters and party hats -- On a celestial plane somewhere, I think there must have been a celebration for Henry David's 208th birthday today!
THAT explains it!
He’s beautiful

Those small gestures really do cleanse and buff and sparkle your day, don't they?
Now that you mention it, it does look like a chipmunk !! Nature has a sense of humor for sure !
Very cool looking and oh so glad this one doesn’t like wool!
I immediately saw a chipmunks head with a peaked party hat on!
