Good morning! It’s Monday. Over the weekend, I found a street sale a few blocks from us and thought it would be fun to see what counts as “used” when you’re in a country that’s 1,500 years old.
Lovely plates. They remind me of some that I have in blue/white and rose/white "Thames River Scenes". Probably a good thing I wasn't there, I would be buying shipping boxes!
I do love the comments about dealing with the yay and nay dilemmas of thrifting. I am in the downsizing time of my life - something I think about more than do!
I loved this post, and looked closely at the beautiful dishes thinking about which two I would have picked. The request for promise and agreement to use them daily was great.
OOOO! This reminds me of the fun times we would have rummaging around at the rummle mart in the town in the Netherlands where we lived! So many lovely items, some hand filet crocheted linens, and the dishes.... what a fabulous memory you just gave me! Thank you!!!
Oh Clara! Why limit yourself to only two? You might have visitors, and secreting a couple more to layer with your cloths on the way home won’t add that much weight!
Unexpected treasures are the best kind. "To nice to Use" was such a refrain of my Mother's generation that I try to avoid "saving for Best." Here's to daily use and enjoyment of the things we love. ❤️
Which two plates? I have my suspicions!
So pretty! I avoid yard sales like the plague because I have so many things I should be giving away.

Like a rummage sale or a charity shop. I must make sure that I walk by them otherwise I come home with something beautiful that I don’t really need
Make sure that you use them 😊
How fun! I wonder which two

I love using my older plates ( no lead warnings please). I feel so elegant when I use them!
I love it when you go to Paris and take us with you.
I’ve been to a couple myself in Brantome and they were equally eccentric and interesting.
I have wedding crystal that hasn’t been used for 40 years. Now is the time.
Which ones did you get?! And yes, use the good china.
How wonderful! And a nice gentle reminded that I do find such joy when I use my older plate and best china. I will do so more often😌
I never go thrifting because I need to get rid of things, except the yarn of course!

What an unexpected surprise to find some lovely things! The fish one seems quite unique.
