The whimsy in these stories makes my heart so glad. I haven't got 40 acres back there, but only 4. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping to retire from teaching this year, so that I can start appreciating all the life that I know is happening on the back 4 outside of my awareness. In the meantime, these posts keep me going. Thank you so much.

Ralph is a beauty! His relative was barking under my window at 3 am last night. A first. Perhaps he/she will return.

Oh, I so love a fox! They're so beautiful. And it wasn't until I watched the oldish BBC procedural Midsomer Murders that I learned about their calls--otherworldly.

Which episode was that bit of info in?? I have seen every episode of Midsomer and I only remember 1 that had a fox hunt in it but I don't remember a that info in it. Please. Thanks in advance for your answer.

Awww I love Ralph!! I think foxes are so cool. I used to love seeing them when I was doing archaeological surveys on San Clemente Island. Plus the time I went to San Juan Island for Cat Bordhi’s knitting retreat my friends and I were exploring the island and came across this beautiful plateau that reminded me so much of San Clemente Island and suddenly out popped a black fox.

Ralph is such a handsome fellow, and I’m sure he takes his job very seriously. Your magical tales are such a lovely way to start the day.

How handsome. We used to have a fox that came to our back sliding glass door and taunted our cats. It was pretty funny. I haven't seen him for awhile so it was nice to see Ralph.

I’ve yet to see a fox in the wild. Bobcats, coyote, possums aplenty here in SoCal so the Ralph sighting thrills me.
