I'm the first one awake, so Gracie and I are sitting in the dark and looking at the tree lights. We'll, actually, Gracie has just finished cat-scanning all the presents (again) and now she is taking a wee bath. But we're both listening to that stream and imagining our pretty tree as it once stood in a forest.
To be the first one awake on Christmas eve, sitting quietly and gazing at the tree with the house cat, that has to be one of the finest moments there is.
