Good morning!
It’s Friday. Yesterday I rolled a magnetic bar around the yard trying to locate my beloved’s favorite pair of pruners, which went missing after a particularly zealous session of spring cleanup.
The more I searched, the more elusive the pruners became. Instead, I was rewarded with a bountiful heap of screws and nails and unidentifiable small metal bits—all of which made delightfully satisfying clicks when the magnet got them.
I wonder how long they’ve been playing hide-and-seek in the dirt and grass and moss, watching us come and go, quietly giggling to themselves, waiting to be discovered?
Some, perhaps not so long. Others, who knows?
“What should I possibly have to tell you, oh venerable one? Perhaps that you're searching far too much? That in all that searching, you don't find the time for finding?”
—Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha
Respiteers, shall we gather this afternoon to discuss our searchings and findings? As always, check your inbox right before 2pm EDT.
Onwards,
Clara
My trick for finding a missing item... buy a new one. The old one always shows up after!
My missing pruners usually are found by digging through all I've pruned and then tossed into a bag to be discarded- easy mistake to make when you are tired. Hope they come out of hiding!
