Good morning!

It’s Friday. Have I told you about our new landscaper? He works mostly in the evenings after we’ve gone to bed. I haven’t actually seen his designs yet, but based on the abundance of holes he’s making throughout the yard, I’m guessing it’s going to be a golf course.

The good news is that we haven’t had to put him on payroll. He’s happy to pay himself in grubs and sunflower seed.

The not so good news? He wears a very strong cologne that not everybody enjoys.

Inevitably, this happens:

A skunk sat on a stump
and thunk the stump stunk,
but the stump thunk
the skunk stunk.

I’m with the stump on this one. And yet, and yet…

“The morning wind spreads its fresh smell. We must get up and take that in, that wind that lets us live. Breathe before it’s gone.”

—Rumi

Respiteers, won’t you join me at 2pm to discuss the magic realm of scent? As always, check your inbox right before the hour.

Onwards,

Clara

I take roaming skunks over squirrel condos in our wooden retaining wall any day...😎

If you like french roast coffee, you can almost get to the point where the two smells seem enough alike that you can live with both. :)
