Good morning!
Happiest of Saturdays to you. Yesterday at the subscriber gathering we talked about our special animal. You know, the one that feels like good luck whenever you spot it? For Respiteer Rena, it’s the Western Meadowlark. If, like me, you’ve never heard one before, you’re in for a treat.

The Eastern Goldfinch also known as the American Goldfinch stands out for me. I have been growing coneflowers (pink echinacea) for a few years and the goldfinch devours the seeds that are in the center of the flower. To my delight they sit/balance on top of the flower and hop from flower to flower eating the seeds. Fun to watch. I look forward to this sight late summer and it continues into the winter. ❤️ The Eastern Goldfinch happens to be New Jersey’s state bird (my home state at this time)! Thank you Clara. I am sorry I missed Friday’s gathering again. Maybe next week. The Meadowlark is beautiful to look at and to listen to. I will share this post with my sister who lives in Utah!
The little chickadee holds my heart. The state bird of my home Massachusetts (and of Maine). I love how they take turns at the feeder in the winter, and if one jumps the the line he is scolded until he returns to his place and waits his turn! So fair minded!
