Good morning! It’s Wednesday. And according to my calendar, today is National Root Canal Appreciation Day. Which is fine, I suppose. But it’s no match for what I found just beyond yesterday’s skunk cabbage.
Early spring we get the teeny violets all across our yard, and it makes me want to cry, they are all so beautiful ~ Unfortunately, the deer also seem to love them as well, and within 2 weeks, every last one is eaten...But I do get to enjoy them for a little bit of Spring Joy!
National Root Canal Appreciation Day! 🤣 ... I love the violets! They are so beautiful. It reminded me of the verse in the Bible that says, "See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these." Beautiful! And thank for reminding me about National Root Canal Day -- don't want to miss that one! LOL
A more cheerful flower is not to be seen. My great aunts wore the fragrance. I was so attached to them. I keep a little vial for remembrance. But my little garden as a child had Lillies of the Valley and Violet's.
As the famous April Showers song proclaims, “Because it isn’t raining rain, you know it’s raining violets”. Your vision of those purple delights bears witness to this sentiment.
I love the violets! But I prefer my calendar, which thanks to Sandra Boynton tells me that today is Frog Jumping Day. Very appropriate for spring, I think.
Ah violets! They were one of my favorite May basket fleurs and also the most difficult color to discern on the spectrum. But what little beauties they are!
Maybe Root Canal Appreciation Day was created by the violets, in their gladness for all the little fissures in the soil that act as little canals bringing water to their thirsty roots in the spring? I'm sure if you asked them, they would laugh shyly and apologize for the unintended painful association for people.
LOVE the quotation. It’s going straight into my collection.
I love violets too. I even have Violet the sheep🐑💜. Years ago I was listening to a call in radio show about gardening. A caller asked the chemically-oriented host how to eradicate violets from his lawn. Huh?!? I couldn’t wrap my head around that question 🙃

Wow! I don't think I've ever seen violets that weren't in a pot! I love them.
Violets! It's been so long since I've picked a violet, my childhood favorite along with pansies
Oy! I suppose it's better than losing one's teeth.

Thanks for violets today.

Violets are so tenacious! I love where they pop up, often in seemingly uninhabitable locations.
Beautiful. Surprised by joy.
Wondering if that's a subtle reference to the book?
Yes, I’m quite the fan. It seemed appropriate.
Wonderful! And yes, very appropriate. I'm a fan too; my son was named after him (middle name Lewis).
No matter where we are violets are a sweet surprise! Wonderful quote!

Those Violets are so pretty!! One of my cats is named Violet so this made me smile.

😱 Who on earth would want to rid one's lawn of violets?!
Especially brilliant point from an inventor.
