Good morning!

It’s Friday. And, as happens with all months that begin on a Sunday, we have a Friday the 13th on our hands. But this day needn’t be a source of paraskevidekatriaphobia (fear of Friday the 13ths) or even triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13). In China and ancient Egypt, the number 13 is considered quite auspicious. And let’s not forget singer songwriter sensation Taylor Swift, who insists that 13 is her lucky number. So there.

“The general root of superstition: namely, that men observe when things hit, and not when they miss; and commit to memory the one, and forget and pass over the other.”

― Francis Bacon

Here’s to noting the hits and the misses. Subscribers, shall we notice them together at 2pm? As always, check your inboxes right beforehand.

Onwards,

Clara

p.s. - I spotted these beautiful pink flowers in Portland. They are, alas, not mine. Not yet, anyway.

Breathtakingly beautiful flowers. How did I miss that part about Sunday and Friday the 13th. Never too old to learn 😊.

Today is my 80th birthday, so I love this Friday the 13th! I turned 13 on a Friday the 13th and have never worried about this supposedly bad luck date since then.
