I love Maine blueberries so much. Every fall we bring a cooler to Maine and purchase frozen blueberries from a local Hope based farmer, bring them home and then have them all year until the following fall. They make breakfast, no matter what you are having, perfect!.

I've missed the 2:00 gathering, but I always wait for the summer foods: strawberries (local), watermelon (Iowa), corn (local), peaches (NJ), cherries (MI), etc. Tomatoes even from the farmer's markets are generally greenhouse, which just aren't ok but I live. Otherwise, I trust frozen; when I open my bag of frozen strawberries for yogurt, it smells of strawberries.

I was irrevocably spoiled for blueberries by having a blueberry muffin in my childhood and finding that it tasted of mold to me. I've eaten them in the wild, but I have a hard time getting over that fear. It's a shame because they'd make such an easy snack. :(

Always learning from your posts!! Here in Brazil we have a small bush that offer us with small cashew fruits ("cajuzinho do campo" - translated as small field cashew) , they also grow only on acidic soils, and in the States of Brazil that have the CERRADO type of vegetation. They are used mostly to make sweet conserve, excellent with vanillha ice cream!

That sounds magical! One day I will have to visit Brazil and try these for myself. Isn't it nice to know, in this global day and age, that such region-specific delicacies are still appreciated?
