Good morning! It’s Saturday. All this talk about roads reminded me that we haven’t done our section of road yet. We missed the annual roadside cleanup day, but the organizer kindly set aside our section so we could tackle it upon our return. So yesterday we finally donned the fluorescent vests, gathered our grabbers and bags and gloves...
Wow, nice assortment! :) I think Garrett Keizer (who has a new book out, BTW) made a similar observation about the ditches in VT in his book God of Beer.
I wish I only saw or picked up these items! Around here you find chairs, refrigerators, tires, old computers, mattresses..... Everytime I go for a walk with my pooch I despair. And you can get rid of it for free at the dump. Go figure.

I know. It’s really baffling, isn’t it?
a lot to be learned from what folks throw out !!
That’s a good one. Yay you for helping out!
Imagine life with Muhammad Ali as President - and Clara as VP. Would be a different world!
Thank you for your kind service and keen reporting!
Wondering how useful a clean grabber might be at the soft-serve window?!
I could use it to grab cones being presented to other people
Such a good quote! Would that all people remembered that!
Great quote. We should all keep it front of mind…
Good for you both! I always feel that roadside cleanup finds are like an unsolvable puzzle, or a writing prompt.
And the more you do it, the more data you have about the populace - favorite drinks, smoking habits, all of it. It’s really fascinating.
Yes, Wendy. I kinda want a Clara narrative spun from these finds!
Interesting haul!
I think there needs to be a Miss Clarple mystery involving the peas, the khaki pants, and the spent shotgun shell.
I would absolutely love to take on that challenge.
Love the quote!
