Good morning,
It’s Friday. Here in the United States, it’s a federal holiday commemorating the ratification of the Declaration of Independence that led to the formation of our country.
Growing up, this day often involved things like parades and fireworks and sales and cookouts and sheet cakes decorated with strawberries and blueberries to look like a flag.
This year merits a bit more introspection. I invite you to sit with me on the porch. We can collect our thoughts together. No crowds, just frogs and fireflies and the flicker of a single candle.
“I have no right to despair. I insist on hope.
― Howard Zinn
Respiteers, if you have a spare moment today, won’t you join me in our imaginary pavilion at 2pm EDT? As always, check your inbox right before the hour for your magic link.
Onwards we go,
Clara
I like the "insist on hope" I think I insist on hope!
Bless your heart, and thank you for this. May we find solace in the gifts of the natural world all around, this day. Breathe, and be.
