Good morning!

Today is Wednesday. After several days that haven’t been on the normal side of things, I came home yesterday to discover our very first tomato of the season had ripened and was asking to be picked.

Her full name is Solanum lycopersicum, but she goes by Moskvich. She is a glorious miracle of water and sunlight. I should say, she was a miracle. One bite, followed by another and another until she was gone, and our entire world was brought back into balance. A good tomato can do that.

“A tomato may be a fruit, but it is a singular fruit. A savory fruit. A fruit that has ambitions far beyond the ambitions of other fruits."

—E. Lockhart

Onwards,

Clara
