Good morning!
It’s Tuesday. Yesterday I came downstairs and found Ducky engrossed in a Dr. Seuss book that my best friend gave me when I graduated from high school. I love this book. It’s full of sweet, silly, Seussian encouragement to leap into the journey of life, the good and the bad.
Ducky looked a little sad, so I asked him what was the matter.
“Well,” he said, studying the illustration on the cover, “I was just wondering if my journey is over. Have I been to all the places I’ll ever go?”
“That’s a good question,” I said.
“I’m grateful you found me,” he added quickly. “And I’m happy to be here. So why am I still restless? Why do I still want to see more?”
“That’s another good question,” I said. “I think it’s perfectly normal to feel this way.”
He looked up, his sad eyes not quite so sad. “After all, you’re a duck,” I continued. “And ducks are migratory birds. It’s in your DNA to get restless and want to keep moving.”
“But if I move,” he said, “would I have to say goodbye to you forever?”
That’s when I had an idea.
“How about we go away together?” I asked.
And so tomorrow morning that’s exactly what we are going to do—and this includes you. Together, we’ll show Ducky things I doubt he’s ever seen before.
